I love beauty and bath products. I don’t necessarily use vegan or all natural ingredients only, however, if I find something that I like (hints: cute packaging, ingredients that will suit all skin types, good reviews) then there’s a chance I might want to try it out. I came across the Nekkid bath and body line via Instagram.
The first thing that caught my attention was their packaging. Not too simple, but not overly done. Next, the ingredients. Milk, honey, oatmeal, chocolate… Hmmmm, sounds tempting! So I started to check out their products.
I browsed through their photos and their website, and thought about what I wanted to buy. I don’t necessarily NEED these products, but I’d like to try them out. It’s locally made, so the more I wanted to test the quality.
I then made a list of the things I wanted (and somewhat “needed”) for myself:
-lip scrub (this tops my list, I’m a sucker for lip balms and lippies!)
-body scrub (this should smell yummy! I have a bunch of milk salt bottles and scrubs in my bath tub)
-perfume (I go for fresh soapy scents vs floral. I guess it came with age!)
-soap (I wanted to try their all natural soap, with Goat’s milk and honey..)
-powder (It’s warm and humid in my country, so I always want to stay dry)
Okay so here’s what I got in my stash..
Nekkid Pure Eau De Parfum Review (Php 350)
I then read the reviews.. Nekkid Pure caught my attention. On the website, it is described as:
NEKKID “PURE” is a floral green fragrance for women. Top notes are orange, galbanum and lemon, heart notes are honeysuckle, jasmine and lily-of-the-valley, base notes are amber, musk, oakmoss and brazilian rosewood.
This scent is clean, lovely, subtle and no-way overpowering. Perfect to spritz on after a relaxing shower or bath. The citrus is much more intensive than other notes but it is not a very sharp citrus. Every note come in a very suave, smooth and subtle way. It smells a little bit soap-y to some people.
It’s not the same scent or projection but everytime our clients wear this scent, it reminds them of Clean Provence (so we were told). So if you like Clean, I bet you will like this fragrance too.
Wait.. what? Clean Provence?!! Okay – I will be adding this to my cart!
TOP NOTES: Orange, Galbanum, and Lemon
HEART NOTES: Honeysuckle, Jasmine, and Lilly of the Valley
BASE NOTES: Amber, Musk, Oakmoss, and Rosewood
Pros: The first time I spritzed this on my wrist – I was in looooove!! The scent was so fresh, light and soapy! It isn’t like those perfumes that are too overpowering that can actually cause or even worsen your migraine! This is just the fun, flirty scent that is suitable for all occasions. The scent lasts, and it’s so easy to carry in your purse because the bottle isn’t too heavy, not too flashy nor bulky. This leaves me smelling crisp, fresh and gives me the vibe of “I just got out of the shower.” Will I re-purchase? Hell yeah! It’s like a fraction of the price of signature scents in the market today, with a burst of freshness in each spritz. It’s a no-brainer 🙂
Cons: Nothing! 🙂
Nekkid Summer Peach Butter Powder (Php 300)
I am sucker for any body product that has Butter in its name! (lip butter, butter lipstick, body butter, butter powder.. and the list goes on!) Here’s the description from the site:
Come on, we’ve all been there! Chafing thighs and bum cheeks. Let’s be honest, it’s nasty! We at Nekkid used to opt for the run of the mill, commercial baby powder but it doesn’t do much for us and for our sore skin. With our high-humid country, it’s inevitable for moisture to build up around our thighs and in between our butt cheeks when we sweat!
We have come up with this triple-milled soothing powder loaded with shredded cocoa butter and soothing essential oils to ensure maximum absorption of moisture and let the skin glide against each other while moisturizing the skin.
When you apply our Butter Powder, you will feel tiny bits of Cocoa Butter that melts when in contact with skin that won’t dry out your skin.
Pros: First off, the scent is aah-mazing! It’s not too strong, just right, but not too baby-ish. It was a little rough when first applied (I guess it’s the cornstarch I was feeling) then it literally MELTED on my thighs.. It was velvety smooth and had a silky feeling. True to its name, it was indeed buttery 🙂 Once this is finished, I will consider repurchasing. It’s perfect for your inner thighs, bum and the skin under and in between your twins (if you know what I mean) that usually gets sweaty especially in the afternoon. I can concur that for the price of Php300, this is well worth it. It’s not as cheap as regular baby powders in the market that you can get for Php70 a pop, but these are one of a kind “butter powders” that actually CARE for your skin. Need I say more?
Cons: Nothing I could think of!
Nekkid Creamy Body Scrub in Chocolate (Php 350)
I love yummy scents like chocolate, vanilla and even coffee in the shower. When I saw that Nekkid had a chocolate scrub, I HAD to get it! When I opened the package I received, I was expecting a small tub.
Pros: Lo and behold – it was a quite big! The size itself made me happy. I opened the lid and smelled it — mmmm, yum! I couldn’t wait to jump in the shower and slather this all over! That evening, I used it on my forearms. I compared it with the milk scrub I’ve been using. The granules were finer, hence, not really irritating once scrubbed onto your skin. The scent of course, will drift you into la-la land. All you need are some lit candles and a warm tub.
It had a creamy consistency, yet not oily. I HATE scrubs that leave an oily after-feel. It just feels “hot” and you sweat more with the residue. Anyway, after scrubbing and rinsing, this choco-yummy exfoliant made my skin feel softer, more moisturized and clean. I am definitely satisfied with this product. It also has Cocoa Butter, Almond Oil, Walnut Scrub, Vitamin E and Pure Cocoa Powder.
For the price, it is definitely worth it. Other scrubs like the ones from The Body Shop are more expensive, yet, they don’t have chocolate ones (not that I know of) and this one is proudly Philippine made. Love your own, diba?!
Cons: After storing this in a cool place for 6 months, I noticed that the smell changed — like it wasn’t as yummy the first time I applied it. The scent was a bit similar to spoilt chocolate for some reason, but hey, I can still use the leftovers for my feet 🙂
Nekkid Lips Warm Vanilla Sugar Lip Scrub (Php 200)
Pros: This was the one I was most excited to try. I love lip products and I don’t have a lip exfoliant. I’ve seen a lot of online stores in Instagram with their own lip scrub version, but I just said to myself, “naaah, maybe next time.”
Then, I saw this Nekkid Warm Vanilla Sugar for the lips. The packaging. So. Cute. Can’t. Resist. When I opened it, it smelled yummy! When I first dug in, I think I got too much of the product and underestimated how rich it was! All I needed was a pinch to exfoliate my lips. It was good enough to eat! I scrubbed gently then rinsed with water. I took a clean cloth and patted my lips gently. It felt so moisturized! Dry, flaky skin = gone!! I’ve got kissable lips in an instant!
Cons: I had a hard time not wanting to lick these off my lips (If you consider that a con!) because the scrub smelled scrumptious!!!
Nekkid Soaps (Php 60)
When I take a shower, I tend to use shower gels more often. I love foaming body washes too. However, I wanted to try these hand-made soaps. I am a big fan of aromatherapy, and bath time is vital for me because that’s my only “me time“.
Here’s what the site says about their Nekkid Soaps:
NEKKID BEAUTY makes vegan-friendly and additive-free soaps, which have been carefully hand-crafted. No, we are not vegan, but we make it a point that we only produce cruelty-free bath soaps. We produce old-fashioned soaps that go way back to olden days when homemade solutions were a commonplace.
Our NEKKID SOAPS are produced in small batches to preserve quality. Our stuff contain only vegetable-based oils and we don’t add parabens, sulfates, and commercial dyes or fragrances to make our soaps more desirable. We turn to nature to assist us in producing the best handcrafted soaps available today. Our soaps are mildly scented because in place of fragrance oils, we use 100% essential oils that complement our soap. We do not use dyes to color our soaps, natural fruits and other ingredients provide the appealing colors of our soaps. And for our exfoliating line, ingredients like apricot seeds and oatmeal provide texture to ensure mild exfoliation. We never use synthetic beads that harm our oceans!
For 60 bucks a pop, I had to try these! And when I ordered, they had a buy two, get one promo, so I got three bars 🙂
Here’s what they said about their Honey Oatmeal soap on their site:
Oatmeal naturally fights redness and skin irriation. Oatmeal soothes skin irritation and itchy rashes, such as those that occur with contact dermatitis, eczema and poison ivy. The soothing colloidal action of oatmeal binds moisturizing emollients to your skin so that it is softer and more elastic. Natural oatmeal exfoliates dry dead skin cells helping renew healthy skin.
Here’s how it looked like on the inside:
Pros: It was not too foamy, and not really bubbly, but gave my skin the right amount of clean. It had this soft, sensual scent and also had a light exfoliating effect. I could feel that it was really mild on my skin. When I towel-dried my skin, it felt softer and supple. I could even use this for my face because I could tell it was that gentle, but had this scrubbing effect to slough off dead skin cells.
Cons: None! 🙂
Overall, my experience with my first Nekkid stash was great! I can’t wait to try the rest of my soaps, and use the Chocolate body scrub regularly. The owner, Sabs Hernandez (@themakeupmaven) was very kind and accommodating on Viber. She patiently answered all my queries. Unlike other sellers who answer you with a plain “Yes | No | Not Available | Sold na“, she would really take the time to explain everything. When asked about her opinion and her best sellers? She told me her top faves. I made a blind purchase with their Pure EDP, but it was well worth it. I can’t wait to try the other scents!! Will order again next time 🙂 🙂
